«There’s no question that in the next thirty or forty years a Negro can also achieve the same position that my brother has as President of the United States, certainly within that period of time», Robert Kennedy, 27 de Maio de 1968.
Básicamente, o texto de apoio do Chicago Tribune diz: "We … think Obama would govern as much more of a pragmatic centrist than many people expect. We know firsthand that Obama seeks out and listens carefully and respectfully to people who disagree with him. He builds consensus. He was most effective in the Illinois Legislature when he worked with Republicans on welfare, ethics and criminal justice reform. … "He has the intelligence to understand the grave economic and national security risks that face us, to listen to good advice and make careful decisions. "The result of Tuesday's election, as much as it elated some, deeply disappointed others. We understand. As divisive as this campaign was, it's time for Americans to come together. Though America faces complex problems at home and abroad, we are optimistic about these next four years with Obama in charge. He strikes us as a good and smart man. Let's see what he can do".
